Alicia Maharajh

Program Lead, BSc, BSW

I strive to support children and families who feel overwhelmed by their emotions or find it difficult to understand and express what they are experiencing. Strong emotions can sometimes feel confusing, making it hard to know where they come from or how to cope with them.

Together, we can explore the thoughts, feelings, and experiences contributing to these emotions while identifying patterns and triggers. By building self-awareness and developing practical coping strategies, I aim to help clients feel more confident navigating challenges before they become overwhelming.

My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where children and families feel heard, understood, and empowered to better understand themselves and their unique experiences.

Alicia is a recent graduate of Lakehead University Bachelor of Social Work program and an alumni from Wilfrid Laurier University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She has experience volunteering in a variety of classroom settings and is passionate about expanding her knowledge in therapeutic practice. Alicia is committed to providing neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based support that helps children and families build emotional awareness, confidence, and resilience.

More than just my work:

Outside of social work, I enjoy reading, exploring creative hobbies, and spending quality time with family and friends. I value lifelong learning and enjoy finding new ways to connect with others, whether through meaningful conversations, creative expression, or shared experiences.
